May 26: Midnight sun skiing behind the lodge in still very good snow conditions. The midnight sun is here and we've 24 hours sun, so no better way to see the sun over the Arctic Ocean than to ski! Martin, Elisabeth, Veronika and myself climbed to Storehaugen for some skiing action at 1am. May 10: Sunshine, frozen snow = perfect corn snow! Thomas headed for the Blåtinden traverse beginning the tour from Havnnes. Skiing down the west side early afternoon provided good skiing and at the foot of the forest they met around 50 reindeer grazing on the early spring shoots on the snow free patches above the beach. The sun broke through the cloud around 10am which made for great visibility and skiing conditions on Sorbmegaisa and Giliivarri. Perfect weather, temperature and snow conditions. Both groups started very early with a 6am breakfast! After boarding the Spirit of Lyngen we beach landed below the glacier at Strupen Bay and headed towards Tafeltinden 1395m then skied the north side down to 900m and skinned again to a small col and skied 200m east, then skins on again and climbed another 250m to fluffy powder, hard powder then wet powder all the back to the boat. May 3: Top day of the season with good powder 1300m to 600m, then a little creme brulee powder from 600 to 500m... then perfect corn snow to the sea... We need nothing more for perhaps one of the top 10 days of the season. May 1: We welcome our 2 groups this week from USA and Austria. The sun shines providing a perfect first day for the week ahead.
