Salmon fly fishing on the Reisaelva (Reisa River) in Northern Norway |
|
The Reisa River is Norway's secret river jewel. The landscape is utterly breathtaking with it's deep canyon and forested characteristics providing you with an extraordinary fishing expedition feeling. Atlantic Salmon, Arctic Char and Sea Trout are in healthy numbers with annual catches on a steady increase. Lyngen Lodge offers 7 day programmes for fly fishing providing the opportunity to explore and experience the extraordinary character of the Reisa. Over the last half decade stocks have been increasing and the Reisaelva's policy on conservation and promoting more catch and release fishing is evidence that an efficient and respected system is in place. The river is 100km (70 miles) long and it's source flows from the high Finnish tundra to finally meet the ocean at the Norwegian town of Storslett half an hour transfer from Lyngen Lodge. The Reisa is divided into 19 fishing zones over it's 100km length, zones 1 to 10 are accessed easily via road from Storslett to Bilto. The river here in it's lower reaches spans 30 - 50 meters wide and due to it's meandering course deep pools, fast and slow currents can be found along the lower sections.
