March 20 – Our condolences to the familes of the tragic accident that occured yesterday when a group of skiers on a sail boat were involved in an avalanche accident in our local mountains. The group were not connected with Lyngen Lodge but the lodge was used as a base for rescue operations. Our groups today visited areas away from the accident scene and had a calm reflective day on Kågen and Gillavari.DSC_3702

March 13 – after heavy snowfall at the lodge overnight, conditions were very promising for an excellent day skiing as the clouds lifted during breafast. Nacho’s group and mine headed on the boat to Blaatinden and Hannes to Giilavarri. The weather from the north delivered fresh snow squalls all day and in between the sun windows we had super great skiing in perfect powder.DSC_2703

YES!! The 2012 ski season begins with a welcome of 3 groups for the first week. One group from Norway the second a mixture from Switzerland, UK, France and the third from the UK. It’s been a late snow start for the season but the snow has arrived (two days ago!) and provided some excellent powder skiing on Store Haugen and Uloya. Great to be back in action on skis!Lyngen_Lodge_G_Austick_2
